Leadership
I have been fortunate enough to be involved in many leadership positions over my lifetime. The ones that stand out the most to me is my involvement in a Special Olympics Block Party, participation in the Eagles Autism Challenge, and my position as Secretary for Rosen College's Sports T.E.A.M. Society club. These specific events/clubs have had tremendous impact on me and have propelled me onto my path of my dream career of curating charity events in the sports industry.
Special Olympics Block Party
March 25, 2022
I was able to be the student lead on creating and implementing an event on the Rosen College campus benefiting the USA Special Olympics 2022 Games. My fundraising committee and I spent months of prepping and planning for the event and fundraised for the games through a fundraising page we created. The event was a Block Party that brought clubs together to put on games and activities for the community to enjoy. When the event concluded, we raised over $3,000 for the athletes and were able to raise awareness for the Games.
Eagles Autism Challenge
2018 - 2020
This is an event I participated in in its inaugural year in 2018. I formed a team of walkers where we raised over $1,150.00 for autism research. Then the next year, 2019, I formed another team and we raised an additional $1,773.00. Then in 2020, we got hit with some difficulties from Covid, but still were able to raise $915.00. Participating in this event made me realize the positive impact I can have on others and how I want to be doing this as a career. I was able to do this with and for my cousin, Christina, who is on the autism spectrum and it was a really life changing event for me.
Sports TEAM Society
2021-2022
I was fortunate enough to become the secretary for Rosen's Sports TEAM Society in my fall semester as a sophomore. As secretary, I am able to help put on speaker events, social outings, site visits, and informational meetings for the club. Through this club, we help others who are interested in the sports industry by informing them about careers in the industry and opportunities to visit venues and volunteer at sporting events in our community.
Special Olympics Block Party
This particular event that I was able to put on was unlike any other held at Rosen campus. It was the first event that I was able to put on at this level of my career and I could not have been anymore happier with how it turned out. It gave me knowledge on the insights of planning an event of this size and how to run a successful event until the end. All in all, I was able to put my desired career to the test with planning an event for a not-for-profit organization in the sport industry. Below is an article a student wrote on the event.
